Adam Levine, selaku vokalis sekaligus penulis lirik “Memories”, pernah mengungkapkan dalam acara The Ellen Show bahwa proses membuat lagu sedih barat ini adalah yang terberat yang pernah ia lakukan.

Adam Levine juga menceritakan, bahwa ia merasa terpukul usai manajer sekaligus sahabatnya Jordan Feldstein wafat pada Desember 2017.

Sehingga, ia memutuskan untuk menumpahkan rasa sedih yang dirasakan melalui lagu sedih barat yang diberi judul “Memories”. Pantas saja, sebab lagunya memang sesedih itu.
