ABSTRACT

Writer’s background to observe the style of language is to find better understanding about the style of the language itself. The purpose of this research is to describe meanings and style of language of the lyrics in Lintasan Waktu album by Danilla Riyadi. The method in this research is using Descriptive Method, Qualitative Research Approach, and Library Research. Data in this research is style of language in the lyrics of Lintasan Waktu album by Danilla Riyadi. Data sources of this research is the entire songs in Lintasan Waktu album by Danilla Riyadi amount to 10 (ten) songs. The results of this research in observing the style of language in every-lyric of songs of Lintasan Waktu album by Danilla Riyadi, Writer founds that 8 (eight) styles of language according to scope of problem in this research that is rhetorical style of language are: Alliteration, Asyndeton, Polysyndeton, Assonance, Litotes, Hyperbola; and Figurative style of language: Personification and Symploce. In this research, writer founds that 7 (seven) meanings contain in the lyrics of the songs of Lintasan Waktu album by Danilla Riyadi (Extension, Gereflecter, Grammatical, Non-referential, Cognitive, Figurative, and Pictorial).

ABSTRACT

The aim of this qualitative research is describing self concept of an earthquake victims at Yogyakarta, on May 27th, 2006. Subjects of this research is focused on an earthquake victims which become a paraplegia sufferer. Earthquake is kind of disasters which cause some detriment and suffers for human and environment or ecology. Paraplegia is physical defect which is caused by spinal cord injure, and the sufferers will have some paralysis on the bottom area of their body or on their legs. Self concept is defined as people’s look frame of their self (how people describe their self), which are gotten from interaction with others who have an important means in their life.
Subjects of this research are four respondent, two paraplegia men and two paraplegia women. Method of research used some technical of interview, observation, and graphic test (Draw A Tree, Draw A Person, and House-Tree-Person). Interview technique didn’t structured with some interview guide. Instead, observation technique were done by two observer with anecdotal technique. Data analysis is descriptively.
Research’s result showed that an earthquake victims which become a paraplegia sufferers have negative self concepts. Subjects haven’t been accepted their paralysis condition yet, and often complains sickness which are raised. Subjects also felt pesimist to work back. Paraplegia condition caused some sexual function disorder, and they felt unconfident to be with their couple. Subjects still have some earthquake’s trauma as one of Acute Stress Disorder (ASD) symptom.
